 k/events/fukushima-the-story-of-a-nuclear-disaster\n\nDespite three reacto
rs melting down at Fukushima\, possibly the greatest risk was the lack of
cooling to their fuel ponds\, and particularly the fourth reactor which ha
d recently been taken off line.\n\nMark Whitby\, Chairman & Design Directo
r at WME and ICE Past-President\, presents a lecture on the only other Lev
el 7 incident on the International Nuclear Event Scale besides Chernobyl a
quarter of a century earlier.\n\nThis talk\, drawn from a number of repor
ts and first-hand accounts\, will explain how this disaster unfolded\, and
how the engineers on the site ultimately rescued the situation.\n\nArrive
6:30pm for 7pm start. Light refreshments provided.\n\nThis is a joint eve
 nt with ICE London.\n
